We hope you had a fantastic start to the New Year! As we wrap up the first week of 2024, we wanted to update you on some crucial happenings and upcoming events at Benjamin Tasker Middle School.

Schoolmax Updates and 2nd Quarter Closing
We’re rapidly approaching the end of the 2nd Quarter, with only 10 school days remaining. It’s critical to ensure that your Schoolmax accounts are correct and up to date. For those who might have fallen behind, please be patient with teachers’ corrections as they work diligently to finalize grades.
Basketball Season Recap
Our Girls’ and Boys’ Basketball Teams exhibited outstanding sportsmanship throughout the season, earning their places in the playoffs with exceptional records. While we didn’t secure victories in the playoffs, their dedication and hard work made this season one for the records. We commend them for representing BTMS admirably.
2024 Schoolwide Spelling Bee
Join us on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 6:00 pm for the much-anticipated 2024 Schoolwide Spelling Bee. We are incredibly proud of our scholars and look forward to witnessing their achievements. Admission is free, and concessions will be available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting Benjamin Tasker PTSO (cash and CashApp accepted).
Martin Luther King Holiday
Please note that schools will be closed on Monday, January 15, 2024, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. It’s not too late to find service activities for your students to help them reach their Service-Learnign Hours goals. If you have questions about Service-Learning hours, reach out to your student’s grade level counselor.
STEM Fair Presentations
For 6th and 7th Grade Families, the STEM Fair Presentations begin on Monday, January 8, and will continue for the next two weeks. Science Teachers will select projects to compete in the School STEM Fair on Thursday, January 18, 2024. We are seeking parent volunteers to judge the STEM Fair Projects. If interested, please email Ms. Wilson at wilsonj@pgcps.org at your earliest convenience.
Ballin’ with the Badge – Save the Date!
The PTSO is excited to announce “Ballin’ with the Badge” on Saturday, January 20, 2024, starting at 12:00 pm. This event promises fun for all and serves as a great opportunity to support our school community. Tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite here.
PTSO Meeting Cancellation
Please note that due to the MLK Holiday, the PTSO meeting scheduled for 1/15/24 will be canceled.
